Co-designing a vision for a new destination in London.
The brief
We collaborated with colleagues at a London Borough to create a vision and identity for a new destination in London.
Background
The project aimed to transform a former traffic gyratory into a vibrant and attractive traffic-free destination. The need for this transformation arose from the desire to enhance the area's appeal and functionality, making it a more welcoming space for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
Our approach
We developed a co-design process involving 70 institutional stakeholders, including the local BID, universities, cultural organisations, religious organisations, and businesses. We designed and delivered a stakeholder engagement process to ensure it was inclusive and comprehensive, to gather input and ensure all voices were heard in the decision-making process. The result was a framework that was tested through the lens of different thematic working groups. We provided focused support to one of the groups, building a framework for collective decision-making. The wider group was then brought back together the following year to reflect on the vision and identity, driving the final expression before the scheme was launched.
Results
The result was a framework that was tested through the lens of different working groups. We provided focused support to the curation and activation working group, building a framework for collective decision-making. The wider group was then brought back together the following year to reflect on the vision and identity, driving the final expression before the scheme was launched.
