WHAT WE DID
Our role was to understand their commonalities, support collective learning while respecting each organisation’s individuality. We established an approach that worked across the different models, sizes and capacities. This gave venues a clear and practical way to reflect on what they do, who they reach, and how they create change.
We supported organisations to articulate outcomes around access, participation, community engagement and organisational development. Using story-led methods, we captured lived experience alongside organisational learning, helping venues move beyond numbers to tell meaningful, human stories about their work.
We then synthesised insight across the cohort to support peer learning, advocacy and future investment. The result was a stronger shared narrative about the value of children’s storytelling venues, grounded in evidence and real experiences, and shaped by the voices of the organisations themselves.
The cohort included Alibi, Discover – Children’s Story Centre, Grimm & Co., Ministry of Stories, Seven Stories, The Reader, The Story Museum, The Writers’ Block and Z-arts.
“Culture Change Works delivered an outstanding piece of work for the National Story Venues Cohort, bringing real depth, rigour and added value throughout the process. Their expertise and breadth of skills, combined with thoughtful, sensitive facilitation and clear strategic vision, helped us make sense of complex work across the cohort and move forward with confidence. They were a genuinely trusted partner, supporting shared learning while strengthening our collective ability to articulate value, impact and future direction.”

“Working with Culture Change Works was a brilliant experience from start to finish. The team are incredibly knowledgeable, with a variety of skills and specialisms across the arts, culture and community sectors that were perfect for what we needed. Their approach to our project was systematic and clear, and we were kept informed at each stage of the journey. The team were also pro-active and made informed suggestions based on their work with us, which took our partnership beyond what we had originally expected and set us up perfectly for future working. The team were skilled at absorbing, collating and synthesising huge amounts of information and getting it into an easily shareable and understandable format leaving us with resources and a toolkit we can use into the future. They went above and beyond the original brief because they are passionate about what we do, and I would highly recommend them.”
