Creative Crawley

We worked with Creative Crawley, an ACE funded arts charity in West Sussex, to make sense of a fragmented communications landscape, develop a long-term strategy, and then stay on to put it into practice.

WHAT WE DID

Framing the Work

  • Communications audit across multiple project brands, websites and social channels to understand what Creative Crawley was actually presenting to the world and where the disconnects were.

  • Strategy built around the organisation's identity as a whole, not its individual projects, addressing the challenge of sustaining a coherent voice across a portfolio of named, funded programmes with their own audiences and identities.

  • Recommendations developed to be deliverable within the real constraints of a small arts charity: limited staff resource, tight budgets and a fast-moving programme.

Developing the Strategy

  • Clarity provided on corporate identity, setting out how Creative Crawley could present itself consistently while continuing to develop and name new projects.

  • Brand guidelines developed in collaboration with the in-house team, giving the Digital Content Creator and Graphic Designer a shared framework to work from.

  • Communications staff structure proposed, with roles and responsibilities aligned to the strategy rather than to individual project silos.

  • Fundraising and evaluation integrated into the communications approach, so that the work Creative Crawley was doing to evidence its value could feed directly into public-facing narrative.

Ongoing Impact Storytelling

  • Following completion of the strategy, Culture Change Works moved into a quarterly retainer to support Creative Crawley to tell the story of its work.

  • Regular impact communications developed across channels, translating programme activity and learning into accessible content for funders, partners and audiences.

  • Support provided as the organisation moved into a new phase of planning, with communications material feeding into the development of Creative Crawley's five-year business plan.

Louise Blackwell
Creative Director
Creative Crawley

"Working with Holly and Hannah from Culture Change Works is an absolute pleasure. They are engaged, skillful, responsive and good fun. We developed a Communications Strategy for Creative Crawley with them and the process was excellent. They set clear expectations from the start, engaged with the team throughout and brought incredible clarity to a key part of our business planning. I cannot recommend them highly enough."
